Deborah's Daughters Women and Leadership Conference 2014

Deborah’s Daughters Women and Ministry Leadership Conference 2014 will be hosted by United Theological Seminary and will be held on the campus of United Theological Seminary. There will also be the opportunity to register for a 1-day streaming conference.

This year's theme is TAKE BACK YOUR TEMPLE: EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL WELLBEING and features a dynamic group of women presenters including leading international conference leaders, church planters, pastors, preachers, professors and health professionals.
The focus will be on topics such as:

Each day will begin and end with worship services that are open and free to the public. There will also be a special Jazz reception on Thursday evening whose proceeds will go to support scholarships for women at United Theological Seminary.

Conference Conveners

Felicia Laboy

Dr. Felicia LaBoy is a scholar, teacher, pastor, and community developer who believes that the ultimate goal of theological education is to always educate, equip and empower leaders to respond to and transform creatively the church and world. A business leader and entrepreneur, Dr. LaBoy is a recognized expert in the fields of faith-based community development, social justice, evangelism, racial reconciliation, and leadership development in community and professional organizations. In particular, Dr. LaBoy is known as one who interweaves her business and theological education and experience to create unique solutions that bring together diverse groups to develop a shared vision and work in concert to achieve better communities and organizations. She is often described as one who moves from the “seminary to the street, from the pulpit to the pavement,” in helping others to understand and utilize complex business and theological concepts to create solutions for communities and organizations.

Academic credentials include a B.S. in Marketing from Lehigh University, an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Duke University, an M.A. in Christian Ministries from Indiana Christian University, and an M. Div with a concentration in Evangelism, along with a Ph.D. in theology, ethics and history from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

An Elder in Full Connection with the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, Dr. LaBoy recently completed 14 years of urban and multicultural pastoral ministry in Chicago. On July 1, 2012, Dr. LaBoy became the Assistant Professor of Evangelization in the Heisel Chair and Director of The Urban Center at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, the only woman of color in the denomination currently teaching at her level in any UM-related seminary.

Dr. LaBoy is married to Adrian LaBoy. They are the proud parents three children and grandparents of eleven grandchildren. They currently reside in Blue Island, IL.

Robbin Boozer

Minister Robbin Boozer is an Associate Minister at New Era Baptist Church, Middletown, Ohio, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Jamey L. Colts, Sr. The Lord called her to preach the gospel in 1998 under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Kazava Smith, of Corinthian Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, where she was licensed and had been a member and served in ministry for over 45 years. There she served as the Director of the CBC Women’s Conference since 1996 until 2006, which she has served in some capacity since its birth. In 2003 the Lord gave her the vision for the M.O.M. (Ministry of Motherhood), a ministry for young unwed mothers in which she organized and spearheaded. Currently, Minister Boozer serves as a Client Advocate at Middletown's Community Pregnancy Center, where she councils and mentors young mothers.

At New Era Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio she serves as teacher of the Adult Sunday School class and provides ministerial leadership for the Congregation Care and J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) Senior Citizens ministries. Before matriculating to United Theological Seminary, Minister Boozer worked at Northrop Grumman ~ Xetron Corporation as a Documentation Specialist in the Cyber Solutions area for Secure Systems until her retirement in April 2011.

Minister Boozer holds a double major BA degree in Biblical Studies and Management & Ethics from Cincinnati Christian University (formerly Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary); and is currently pursuing a M.Div. degree at United Theological Seminary. At United, she is a Student Intern for The Center for Urban Ministry, and Research Assistant for Dr. Felicia LaBoy.

Minister Boozer has two children and one granddaughter. One of her favorite scriptures is “Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Of her journey to Christian ministry, Minister Boozer says, “If it had not been for the Lord on my side, where would I be NOW."
